The Centennial Trail, or How I am Kicking Myself for Not Riding This Trail Earlier!

I have a new love. The kind of love that you wake up thinking about. The kind of love that makes you smile when it comes across in conversation. And yes, I do love my husband and he does make me smile every day. But I am not talking about him. I am talking about the Centennial Trail.
what a perfect fall day for a ride!

For some reason I had it in my mind that if I had to drive to a location to ride my road bike that it would be a silly waste of time. I used to think, “Why drive my car to ride my bike?” Apparently the joke was on me. The Centennial Trail is a beautiful and fairly quiet ride that I plan on doing again and again.

Even the drive to the trailhead in Snohomish is pretty.

Unlike the Burke, which (does serve its purpose well) is crowded and poorly maintained and inevitably has some jerk using it to train for a time trial (seriously people? What are you trying to prove by riding that fast on a crowded trail?!?), the Centennial Trail is peaceful, beautiful and save for the occasional, polite fellow cyclist – quiet.
smiling while I ride the Centennial Trail!
It helps that it was a storybook perfect fall day out. Low seventies, sunny, crunchy leaves strewn about, and that smell of early fall that I wish I could bottle up and smell in the middle of winter when I have no desire to get off the couch. I kept thinking, “When are we going to stop and press apple cider and pick pumpkins?” It was that idyllic.
pink and purple bikes!
Bottom line: I’ll be back.

Great pics. That WAS a fun ride. I need to get those pictures. As soon as I can get an SD card reader and get the soap pics off my camera, I will give you those too!
